Why Readiness
There is no doubt that some of these events will happen. Their degree of impact and the timing is unknown. An event can literally happen tomorrow, the next day or in a few months. Your readiness will determine the level of discomfort and potential suffering that your family will endure. Some events are a few hours in duration some can last weeks, months, or longer. An event that impacts shelter or sustenance can quickly turn unbearable and even life-threatening in just a couple of days. Protecting your family, pets, belongings, ability to transact business, and even net worth, as well as getting crisis information, is paramount.
Being unprepared may leave no fallbacks. The US is increasingly unprepared to deal with more and varying types of threats and emergencies. We have insecure borders. We have rapidly growing homelessness. We have rapidly rising costs of basic need items. We have shortages and logistics problems. We have growing income disparity and decline of the middle class. We have an increase in drug addiction and related deaths and crimes. We have rampant smash and grab looting in major cities beginning to spill outwards. We have vastly growing numbers of undocumented foreigners in our midst. We have a rise in organized, vitriolic hate speech and events. The military is the least prepared it has been in years and weapons, defensive resources, and personnel are dangerously depleted.
In time of crisis, local, state, and especially the federal government is less and less prepared to respond appropriately. Looking into the future, the likelihood of governmental support for events and emergencies will diminish markedly, leaving citizens increasingly having to fend for themselves. Few people are prepared and knowledgeable in how to protect themselves and their families from most/all of the scenarios above. The unprepared will be an affliction to both themselves and those that have taken actions to be ready. Unfortunately, the unprepared face the greatest risk of life altering circumstances and loss of life.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is readiness for?
It should be all Americans—unfortunately it’s not.
Those people that see the signals that readiness is a necessary undertaking, are concerned for their family’s safety, yet are overwhelmed with what to do and how, are our core clientele. Families are at all income levels, but most clients are emotionally and financially secure and capable of making needed purchases for their chosen readiness level.
What about extended family?
At higher levels of readiness, family that is not very close by probably has to address their readiness separately. Understanding exactly who you want to protect and where they are, will be part of the interview process and may be part of the roadmap. It’s possible to coordinate readiness for extended family, but what and how will be determined on a personalized basis.
What does readiness cost?
The intro consultation fee is $850. Once you receive your readiness roadmap, there will undoubtedly be purchases you need to make from third parties of your choosing. The range of investment in readiness literally starts at a few hundred dollars and can go deep into six figures if one chooses, such as having a second home in another region of the country and outfitting both homes appropriately.
What are your fees?
- Initial consultation package: $850
- Additional hours: $175/hour
- Refuge Rooms, Plain Sight Safes, Protection Panels, Water storage systems, other readiness products: TBD based on customization
- 3rd party product installation: up to $175/hour
Can you coach a group of neighbors?
Yes, but we do require a primary customer. Exactly how that is structured and the fees need to be discussed prior to undertaking a “neighborhood” approach.
How many people can participate?
We coach the immediate family in residence, so long as all attendees are at least 18 years of age. Topics can become too alarming for children, therefore we encourage parents to have private discussions with them in a family appropriate way.
Is this a one time thing or do we need to keep updating our readiness?
It can go either way. If you address all the potential readiness you want to have and implement it after the initial consultation, you may not need anything further in the future. If your circumstances change or local or global circumstances change, you may need to update your roadmap and readiness materials. Typically, readiness is something that evolves and few people can be fully prepared up front. You are never obligated to State of Readiness regarding making changes and adaptations to improve your readiness.
Do you provide ongoing support?
We provide basic support after the initial consultation to clarify our discussions and roadmap. We do offer additional consultations as billable hours.
Do you decide what we need to do?
No. We educate and coach. We do our best to point out benefits and risks, but all decisions are your own. We can’t be there when an event happens. You need to have ownership of all decisions so that you are confident and calm and can execute whatever is in your readiness roadmap. It’s like the old adage about giving a man a fish or teaching him to fish. The goal is to teach you to fish.
Can’t we learn this on our own?
Absolutely. There are lots of resources and videos online and in bookstores. Many people jump in only to find themselves quickly overwhelmed by the seemingly endless information and advice, becoming frozen in place and ultimately unprepared. There are really great sources of information and with that, contradictions between sources and sometimes info that is only regionally relevant. State of Readiness acts as a coach to provide order and calm guidance, to alleviate feelings of being overwhelmed, fear, and dread.
What is the average state of readiness for most families?
Unfortunately, an estimate would be that greater than 95% of people in the US are unprepared for serious events and will be devastated in every way, when a tragic event occurs and that lack of readiness will act as a contagion to one another of the unprepared.
Is there a special area of readiness you focus on?
We help clients prepare for all readiness scenarios. However, we think that it is very crucial to look beyond the obvious and really focus on the very serious issues not reported by the media, that can destabilize the economy and society very rapidly. Those scenarios are a threat beyond the typical family’s ability to survive.
Can you purchase needed items for us?
Maybe some items. It’s something we can discuss.
Can you install or setup required items/systems that are on our roadmap?
Yes, we can install and setup certain things. We can discuss it when we meet or after you’ve reviewed your custom roadmap.
Can you guarantee we’ll be prepared for everything on our roadmap?
No. Unwanted events and emergencies cannot be fully foreseen, mapped out, and defined. None of us know what will happen in the future. Your best hedge is the highest level of preparedness you can put resources to and the best knowledge you can gain to be mentally prepared to execute against things that happen.
Don’t government agencies provide readiness training?
There are handouts, websites and courses on small aspects of readiness. You will have to find them and piece them together. Expect many gaps. To our knowledge, there are no comprehensive government resources and no government offering would be specific to your family’s needs. Critically, government agency responses and results to serious issues has been increasingly ineffective and scandalous. Counting on those same sources as your guide is a big risk to expose your family to.
My neighbor/friend/cousin knows this stuff. What’s different about State of Readiness?
We don’t know. We don’t know how to make a comparison. If you have confidence that your resource can prepare your family appropriately, certainly use them. If you have doubts, you may find State of Readiness a better alternative and a neutral one. Plus, we’ve invested immeasurable hours in numerous readiness topics and can tie the pieces together understandably and appropriately. Can your source do that?
Is readiness scary?
Not being ready is very scary.
What if we plan and invest for things that never happen?
Consider yourself fortunate and be very happy.
If you are highly prepared, it’s unlikely that you will see any waste in it.
